MYSTIC MANUKA
Manuka essential oil, sometimes called New Zealand Tea Tree, is a powerhouse of cleansing and healing, floating in on a cloud of soft honey and coastal breeze. If you are drawn to manuka, you may need to spend some time listening to your body and meditating before taking a firm and clear action. Or, you may have a calling in the field of mediation and counselling that is tapping you on the shoulder! In other cases, manuka speaks to people who have very deep healing to do stemming from loss.
THE FACTS
Manuka essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of the tree. It has been known and used as a healing plant by the Maori people for perhaps thousands of years and due to the popularity of manuka honey, the essential oil is becoming more known in other parts of the world.
Clinically speaking, manuka is a very powerful healer with the formidable ability to address viral, bacterial and fungal infections. It's useful for all types of skin problems as well as the urinary system and conditions stemming from chronic immune deficiency.
DRIVING ENERGY
The driving energy of manuka is, "purification", especially the type that comes from deeply accepting and releasing a rooted wound and receiving the gifts that follow. When we experience this type of purification, it feels almost as if something holy has happened. Maybe it has.
In my own practice, I don't often have a client who is drawn to manuka, but if they are, I know that some powerful healing is about to take place. Maybe not during that treatment or even on that day, but a process is set in motion and I believe manuka works with people on the cellular level, rooting out and releasing pain that is often generational in origin.
MYTH AND ARCHETYPE
I am not personally aware of manuka in Myth, however a person more knowledgeable in Maori lore may be, in which case please send me an email as I'd love to include that information here! The archetype that manuka embodies is the "Medicine Woman". Like a Medicine Woman, manuka can walk between worlds, weaving a healing and purification for the recipient that works on all levels of the body and spirit, and fully outside the constraints of time.
