AROMATHERAPY BOOKS FOR PSYCHOLOGY
This book is not written by a psychologist, but by ay professional aromatherapist, Valerie Ann Worwood.
It's a really special and unique book. There are considerable chapters about different challenges a person might face in the sphere of mental and emotional health. But where this book really shines is that the essential oils have been grouped into "smell families" and each given a type of psychological profile.
It's possible to then determine via mood or personality which essential oils you or a client might best respond to for a given problem.
There is also a "moods index" which I reference often. If a client uses certain words in their intake repeatedly such as "lonely" or "frustrated" it's possible to look up these words in the index and find corresponding oils. Alternately if the client says they want to feel more "joy" or "positivity" these words also have corresponding oils.
You do not have to be a clinical or professional therapist to understand and appreciate this book. The writing style is very accessible and enjoyable to read. One of the more interesting books in my collection!
